How They Work

Selecting scents that promote and enhance your relaxation will help invite your body into a restful state, which prepares you for better sleep. In addition, you can indulge in a sleep routine, and by using essential oils; your brain begins to associate certain scents with sleep time.
Using essential oils for sleep is a natural and healthy way of improving your sleep. For example, according to a study, smelling jasmine is as effective at calming and relaxing the nerves as a sleeping pill.
How to Use Essential Oils for Sleep
There are many simple ways of incorporating essential oils into your sleep routine. One of the easiest ways is by using your favorite scents through an air diffuser. Another super easy way is by massaging a few drops onto parts of your body: wrist, neck, and forehead are great spots if you’re looking to relax.
You can also use essential oils on your pillow so that you can have the scent around you. In addition, many natural face creams and soaps use essential oils for scent. Using these kinds of natural products will help you stay away from toxins and chemicals, as well as complement your sleep routine.
Creating the Perfect Sleep Routine
We all deserve a good night’s sleep. And it takes more than just essential oils. That said, the right routine, followed by the right oils and ambiance, can really help with relaxation. Here are a few tips to help you with your sleep.
- Turn off your electronics (phone, laptops, TV etc.) at least an hour before bed. The sounds, the lights, and the messages only distract you and interrupt your mind and body from relaxing. So turn everything off, so that you can slowly shut down your brain too.
- A nice cup of Camomile tea while you read your book can go a long way. What better way to relax your body and prepare it for sleep time?
- Dim the lights as you begin to prepare for bed. Make sure you have an enjoyable routine every night. In addition to my dental care, I always apply natural oils to my face as a moisturizer. I keep my skin routine natural and organic.
- Then comes your essential oils for sleep: my favorite is lavender. I apply a few drops on my temples and massage them to relax me, along with a few drops on my wrist. You can find out more about the benefits of lavender on our blog.
