Eating fruits and vegetables give a lot of benefits to the heart. One study found that it reduces the risk of getting heart disease by about 41 percent. In retrospect, it was discovered that when a diet is rich in meats and other processed foods, there was a 72 percent increase in the chance that the individual will have heart disease. These results confirm that of many other studies which show that fruits and vegetables are better than taking fatty and salty foods. But why is this so? The reason and a lot of the reason are related to inflammation. Because fruits and vegetables are rich in oxidants and fiber, they help to provide a good environment for the body to thrive. On the other hand, the sugary and fatty equivalents tend to promote inflammation in the body because they lack fiber and other ingredients that can help the body. The fibers that are contained in them like high levels of omega-6 fatty acids can make the immune system to be overworked when they are consumed on a regular basis, therefore leading to arteries and veins that are clogged. But inflammation has not been a cause of heart disease that medical science has proven. It is just a conjecture.
